Parent Teachers' Association

Here at Longbenton Community College we have a very active and supportive Parent and Teachers' Association (PTA).  We meet at regular intervals throughout the year and discuss a number of matters that help to take the college forward.  We very much respect and value the opinions of parents and guardians and seek to hear their views on a regular basis.  Examples of meetings attended by the PTA include:
  • An address by the Principal on the future of education and the effect on the college
  • Presentations on foreign and overseas trips available to our students
  • An address by our Assistant Principal with responsibility for e-learning on issues of e-saftey
  • Meetings to discuss new approaches to parents' evenings and our communication with parents
One of the main areas of our PTA is fund raising.  Our main event is always the very successful Christmas Fayre held each year in November.  We raise a substantial amount of money that is always divided up among a number of departments and allows them to purchase an exciting range of resources for the benefit of our students.

Date for your diary:  Christmas Fayre 2010:  Saturday 20th November 2010 form 2pm-4pm.

SHOP ONLINE AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE COLLEGE

If you shop online why not help raise money for the college while doing so.  There is a website www.easyfundraising.org/uk that you can use to do most of your online shopping, it is easy to use and does not cost anything to you or the college.  All you have to do is sign up and then use the links to do your online shopping.  Most major retailers are signed to the website.

They provide a FREE service where you can shop with your favourite online stores and at no extra cost raise funds for the college.  You still shop directly with each retailer as you would normally, but simply by using the links from their site first each retailer will make a cashback donation to the college.

For example, spend £25 with WH Smith and 3.5% will be donated.  You will have raised £0.88, at no extra cost to your purchase.  Insure your car with Direct line and raise £30, or purchase a mobile phone from O2 and earn £17.50, and so on.

You can shop with 500+ brand name retailers and raise funds you just use the links from their site first—it’s that simple!

If you ALREADY shop online, why not help the college at no extra cost from purchases you would make anyway.
