He has decided to leave, after only a year in the job. This follows a disappointing Christmas sales period, a fall in market share and a profit warning in January.
Rugby Union Six Nations update England head into the final game with a chance of winning the title and we expect it will be one of the most watched sporting events on TV before the Olympics starts. NFL:Green is serious about an acting career
Ahman Green dabbled in acting as a player and, now that his playing days are over, he’s taking another run at Hollywood.
Green, the Packers’ all-time leading rusher, is one of 20 current and former NFL players scheduled to participate in the league’s first-ever “Pro Hollywood Boot Camp” at Universal Studios in California next month.
The four-day camp (April 2-5) will serve as a crash course in screen writing, directing, producing and film financing, with Hollywood names such as John Singleton and Keenen Ivory Wayans, among many others, providing the instruction. Former Packers defensive back Will Blackmon, now with the New York Giants, is also scheduled to participate. By Aidin and Cuthbert |

Tesco Goes Cheap
At the Tesco website the New Apple Ipad was selling for £49.99 instead of £695 and the reason for that is because of a computer glitch. A spokes man for Tesco did say “I would like to give our customers unbeatable value, but unfortunately this is an IT error that is currently being corrected.” You can find more about it if you click on the link below. The Ipad will be out in the UK tomorrow - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-17357383

Sixth Form Vs College Vs Apprenticeships At this time of year, many students around the age of 15 and 16 years old are making a very important choice of what to do next in life. Many will chose to stay on for further education, but will have to make a choice of what to study and where. Students have the opportunity to stay on to receive education in sixth form, college or take up the opportunity to learn through apprenticeships. Given the situation with jobs at the moment, most people will probably be most likely to choose one of the three courses.
WARNING: Given the decisions from the government, whom have decided next year’s year 11 will not be given the opportunity to chose whether they would like to stay on to do further education this will be the last cohort of students who are free to make their own choices at 16
We interviewed a few teachers at Longbenton Community College today to talk about what they had to offer in certain subjects. This included Head of History, Mr Warkman. We asked him a few questions dealing with the subject at A-level History; he concluded that “you need to be determined and willing in this subject to be successful in this academic subject.”
We also interviewed a student who was considering this subject at A-level, she responded “I’ve been told by my history teacher that to secure my place, a grade C would be accepted, but with Longbenton Community College, a B would be more suitable.”

A bus has crashed in Switzerland killing over 28 people on a return journey to Belgium The mangled remains of a coach which crashed head-on into the wall of a tunnel in Switzerland is now sitting in a police warehouse being assessed. The fatal accident happened on Tuesday following a skiing trip. The bus was carrying 52 people including two teachers from a primary school in Belgium. The Belgian authorities are preparing to fly home the bodies of twenty two children and six adults including both coach drivers killed in the crash. Another 24 children were injured, some critically, in the late night accident. Those who survived are now in intensive care or sitting with shaken relatives that have flown in masses to see the fate of their children; many didn’t even know the circumstances in which they died. The possible causes are being discussed as we speak but the outcome is proving hard to get to. At a news conference on Wednesday, Swiss prosecutor Olivier Elsig said the bus was nearly brand new which rules out many malfunctions people may think happened. The bus hit a concrete wall that forms part of an emergency access section, in a tunnel where the speed limit is 60 mph but reports show that there was no indication that the bus was travelling too fast. Imogen Foulkes, another reporter at the scene said that “The coach hit a kerb and swerved into what is a "stop lane" inside the tunnel. It appears to have then carried on and hit the wall at the end of the lane. Judging by the catastrophic destruction of the bus and the loss of life, this was at a very high speed indeed.” Mr. Elsig said that possible causes being investigated include a technical failure, the driver suffering a health problem, or "human error". Although there have been safety questions over some of the more elderly Alpine tunnels, with just two lanes facing each other, this was not one of those. This was a newer tunnel with a lot of safety features - escape lanes, escape telephones, and it's very wide. There should be enough space for traffic not to hit the kerb. Belgium announced a day of national mourning, while the Swiss and the European parliaments observed a minute's silence for the victims. The tunnel is now open again but that fatal day will never be forgotten.

Starbucks now want to know you name to try and be friendlier, to their customers.
Have you ever watched an American TV show such as friends, when they have their name on their cup of coffee? Well starbucks is now started trials of that in England.
Its to be friendlier, as right now we are referred to by the drink we bought; mocha grande.... Not any more though... now you will be referred to as your mum intended you to be by your actual name.
So next time you walk into a starbucks you are now on first name basis with the person serving you. It means you don’t have to remember what you ordered, good for some of us who have unusual orders. So you can have the strangest combination you want and not have to remember it.

The school newspaper is a great experience for young journalists and helps you to improve your English skills.
In Longbenton there are lots of young journalists, and there is not a lot they can do in Newcastle to help them with their future career at a young age. So the school newspaper is agreat way for young writers to have their work published.
I think it’s a great opportunity not just because it improves your English skills, on the event day you can talk to new people who have similar interests as you. You can collaborate and share ideas and make great articles
I have been involved with The Benton Bugle since I was in year 7 and you can see your work improve every year, but it also gives you a taste of what you maybe want to do as a career. In my opinion, if it was not for the Benton Bugle there would be nothing for young journalists in our area
Mr. Watson currently runs The Benton Bugle team and the last event day we had was great as ti was really fun. It’s not like it’s not like normal lessons but still it's very fun, you do have to work too though!
You can read The Benton Bugle Online

26 year-old female solo artist Ellie Goulding has announced that she has been writing new music and recording new material recently in the studio for a new album which she has revealed that she hopes to release at the end of Summer 2012.
During an exclusive interview with ‘HelloGiggles’ on 31st January 2012 about the progress on her upcoming release, the singer songwriter, who has recently supported Katy Perry on her California Dreams Tour across the US and Canada, and is currently dating dubstep producer Skrillex, revealed more details on the type of album she hopes to make, which she previously confessed would be "definitely different" to her previous album Lights, her first and foremost, number 1 album. The singer also explained, "It is quite different, yeah, but it's because I'm still really getting stuff together. I think I just want less restriction, I want my album to breathe a bit more". Furthermore Goulding added, "I want to concentrate on my voice and my lyrics. I guess raw might be the word, it might be a bit more raw. But I want to flex my voice. I want to trust it for this next record."
Ellie has also promised her fans a new song cover, which they are all very excited for, especially as Ellie’s earlier covers throughout her career, for example, Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap, and her cover of Your Song by Elton John which rose to number 2 on the UK Singles top 75 and was performed at the Wedding of William and Kate in April of last year, are known to have all been successful, and in my opinion, they have sounded fantastic.
All of the Goulddiggers (Ellie Goulding’s closest fans), can’t wait for the new album and cover, especially as they are sure that it will be a massive hit and as Ellie has hinted about announcing another tour afterwards!

Monday 12th March was a day marked on the calendars of rock fans nationwide as the Reading and Leeds festivals line up was finally announced.
Anticipation steadily grew in the weeks running up to the announcement, as rumours and speculation were rife. Several fake line ups were posted on websites all over the Internet, sparking fury and outrage when they proved untrue. However, it has been officially announced by the festival organisers and has been greeted with mixed reactions.
Headlining the festivals are The Foo Fighters, The Cure, and Kasabian, joined by Paramore, The Black Keys, and Florence and the Machine. Paramore played the festivals in 2010, and seem to be very excited about this year, with lead vocalist Hayley Williams tweeting, “That's right England. READING AND LEEDS!! Oh and we're opening for The Cure. Not like they're one of my fav bands of all time or anything!”. Joining them over the weekend are You Me At Six, All Time Low, and Enter Shikari. However, with the extremely well-received line up last year to live up to, has this line up made the cut?
According to Beth, apparently not. When asked her opinion of the artists performing, she said, “It is good, but not as good as other years’. The line up is well put together with a range of bands such as The Foo Fighters mixed with All Time Low, but I am not impressed with other bands that don't deserve to be there more than others. There should be more solo artists to give more of a variety to the festival and show visitors from abroad that Britain hosts the best festivals in the world.”
Alice added, “A large majority of the festival audience will be teenage girls and older women, who are fans of girl bands. The lack of girl bands is increasingly evident - although the music industry suffers from boy band hysteria, notable girl groups such as The Saturdays and Parade deserve a place on the line-up. The Saturdays have been known to win over the crowd on festivals such as V festival and Oxygen, so it would not go amiss adding them to the daytime line-up.”
Molly too feels this year’s line up is unsatisfactory, citing, “In my opinion, I find this year's line-up quite disappointing in regards to the festival last year.” Joanna, on the other hand, feels that, “It’s a really good line up, I really like The Foo Fighters and Paramore, so I'll definitely be tuning in to watch it.”
I too personally feel that this year’s line up is extremely good, however it does not live up to the likes of My Chemical Romance, Muse, and The Strokes headlining, and The Blackout, Bring Me The Horizon and The Offspring playing the main stage at last year’s festivals. Needless to say, the acts performing are guaranteed to put on an amazing and unforgettable weekend, regardless of any ill feelings about their performing slots.

JENNIFER ANISTON’S new film has finally come out in the UK after months of anticipation.
The 43 year old actress, whose ancestry originates in Greece, talks about the movie saying “It really was, one of the most ridiculous amounts of fun I’ve ever had.”
Not only does Jennifer Aniston star in this film, but Paul Rudd, who played ‘Mike’ in the famous late 90’s sitcom ‘Friends’ also does too. With Jennifer and Paul starring as both main roles, you’re certainly in for a treat. In recent interviews about the movie, they do talk about their history in films and TV shows such as ‘Friends’ and ‘The Object of My Affection’ and how their history together has been “More of a help.” Paul said “Because we’ve known each other for such a long time that there’s just an ease that just comes off talking and playing off each other.” These past few months couldn’t get any better for Jennifer, with just recently being honoured a Hollywood Star on the Walk of Fame. This is a massive achievement, especially after everything she has achieved and been through, and of course she deserves every second of it.
The movie itself is about a young married couple, who have to figure out options to overcome sudden unemployment and decide to take a new lifestyle path altogether. They travel and end up staying in a hippie commune, conjuring up all sorts of surprises.
Just to add to the chemistry of the film, Jennifer Aniston’s current beau Justin Theroux stars in the film, even though they met 5 years ago. This is the movie that put forward their romance, and even a year later, their romance is still on a high.
The only downside to this film is that it has been certified a ‘15’ movie, so anyone under that age won’t be allowed to see it, most probably due to the fact that there is a skinny dipping scene and Jennifer Aniston features in a topless scene although it is all tastefully done.
I would recommend seeing this film as it is something different out in cinemas right now, and at the end of the day- it’s a feel-good film. By Beth, Year 10.
